If anyone could help me with this, I would be very grateful;

On a machine with NT4, SP6a and IE5.5 a Security warning window keeps coming back at certain sites, even when I install the certificate, and I have to click Yes to continue a dozen times.
On another machine also with NT4, SP6a and IE5.5, and the exact same configuration of Advanced, Security-CustomLevel and Content-Certificates in Internet Options, the security warning window never shows.
(I used the same account on both pc's)

Obviously the machines must have different settings but which one(s) determine the showing/lacking of the security warning window?

I haven't used IE 5.5 much so I don't the direct answer to your question. But I do have an idea as I have had problems with certificates when using IE 5 with 56 bit encryption. It seems to be that if a specific website demands 128 bit encryption, it prompts the browser to download and install a certifcate at every visit.

Given that, it might be worth checking that IE is running the same encryption level on both your machines.

If they are, then I'm as stuck as you are.

Either way, good luck with it.

The encryption on both machines is the same, 128-bit.

(BTW: funny you mentioned this; we've had a lot of problems with 128/56-bit encryption some time ago.
Problem was solved when the right versions of 4 dll's were installed; advapi32, rsabase, rsaenh and schannel)

Ah. Then I'm out of ideas. Sorry.
(But thanks for the notes on the DLLs).

no matter, keeps me working..

Look on the web for a free file called "Cryptofix.bat" It solved this error for me.
