Ok, So I am very new to access and access security, I am sure this question has been answered many times, i just can't seem to find what i'm looking for. Here is my problem. I have a front end db that multiple users can access with access security. However, how do I grant them access to only the forms that update the tables without them being able to open the front end tables too? this is important because I have a field that shows me which user last updated a file.... but if they know anything about access then they can just go into the table and change the last user record. But I have to give them access to the table so they can update the form....? help please? thank you!

It will help you decide what type of security is best for your application.

without them being able to open the front end tables too?

Maybe you just stated this wrong, but the tables are stored in the backend and the forms are n the front end. Why do you have tables in the front end?

well when i split the database it put tables in the front end with arrows in front of them (assuming these are linked tables) but when you open the tables with the arrows in front of them its like you have full access to the table itself.... do i need to delete those?

do i need to delete those
Certainly NOT !
Go to the menu tools -> Startup ...
uncheck all the options your users don't need and choose the startup form.

Hope This Helps, PH.

PHV,
Ok, I did this and I think it is what I am looking for, however..... I made a mistake and now I can't even view tools in the front end to fix it, it backs up every night, so do I need to access that backup file, or is there a way that I can get the tools toolbar to come back? thanks so much for yalls help

Have you tried holding the shift key down while you open the database? It should over-ride start-up entries. Keep shift held down through any open dialogs.
