Has anybody heard of Securelogix Corporation? They claim to have a firewall for the PBX.

SecureLogix and Sentry Telecom both make telephone system firewalls. They scan the line, analog or digital, during its use and determine whether or not that type of call is allowed for that line. If not, the have the ability to terminate the call. On digital lines, this is done through signaling. On analog lines, they install a device in series on the line, so the disconnect is performed right there.

There is some analysis of these devices on in the reading room.

The devices can be highly effective at keeping people from using their fax lines for dial-up modems and for detecting war dialing attempts. But like all Intrusion Detection and Firewall technologies, you need to understand what you are trying to accomplish BEFORE you invest in technology.

For instance, if you have CAS trunks, and are trying to block outbound call types from certain extensions, it is just not possible. However if you have a PRI, you may well be able to accomplish it.
