Does anyone know if there is some way to allow access to packages by studio?

So for example, if an admin wanted to let a person have access to certain packages in QS, but different packages in AS… is that type of security possible?

Thank you!

Actually, I want them to have access to both QS and RS... I just want the person to have access only to A,B,C packages in RS and X,Y,Z packages in QS.

Is that clearer?

Ok. Can you try this:

1. Open Framework Manager
2. Click on Tools, then Specify Object Security
3. Here, you can specify a group and explicity deny them access to the package
4. Please note that the everyone group should be removed if you wish to prevent all users from accessing all packages

I am not sure that would work if I want tod do this:

-someone to be able to use A & B packages in QS (but not in X & Y packages), and X & Y packages in RS (but not A & B packages)?

Thanks!

Hi,

This cannot be done. I had a similar situation where I had a user that as a consumer needed to have access to packages A & B. I then wanted to give this user Query Studio accessa to package A but not B. Seems that if the user has access as a consumer you cannot restrict packages when yo grant studio privileges.

As per Cognos Support, "The enhancement request already exists. The enhancement number is 462438."

Nuffsaid.
