Could you tell a little about what platform you are using, what format are the content in, how much control do you have over the way users view the information and so on?

Hi Johnny

Thanks for the reply.

I am using Microsoft IIS 5.

Content is in all kinds of formats like XML, ASP, PHP, CSS, JPG, GIF etc.

I want TOTAL control. Meaning that I can determine how long the interested party can preview the stuff before he/she buys it.

i.e. if the person wants to buy a photo online, he/she can take a peek for 10 seconds (that I determine) before the image does a disappearing act.

It would be great if I could CONTROL if and when the content can be printed, saved or downloaded.

Got any ideas?

Frank

Ïf your needs realy are at this level you have to look into very different solutions.
That level of security can't be implemented in normal standard software, especialy MS products.

I would contact a company who has done this before. IBM could be the right place to go. They have made some realy secure solutions for different goverments and big companies around the world.

But solutions at that level of security will cost a lot. Real BIG money

This kind of solutions are not for a normal privat company.

It seems to me that your want a real secure solution that gives you total control, but based on standard internet solutions.
If you want people to use eg a standard web-browser you have to follow the http 1.1 protocol specs, but this also allow anyone with the right access ti issue a HTTP GET command and at that point-in-time you loose control of the file/picture what the user is downloading.

You will also need total control of the end-users PC, the network and all the software and hardware involved.

So if this solution isn't for an installation at NSA I think you have to lower your security level or just drop it.
