Greetings, we are trying to wrap up a 600 phone, 4 controller, four site, Mitel 3300 installation and have run into several "features" that seem to me to be counter intuitive.

The vendor that sold us the system programmed a second multicall appearance on each phone of the prime number so a user can take or make a second call. This works fine until we started programming the "secretarial" button on an assistant's phone. If the boss is on the phone the secretary's "secretarial" button for the boss' phone lights up. But if a second call comes in for the boss the second multicall appearance lights on the boss' phone but secretary does not get any notification and can not answer the second call using the secretarial button on her phone.

Any ideas of how I can overcome this "feature?

mmm good question. Just try this for me as it works for BLF

In the Systions Options form, look for a setting called "BLF on set Enabled" and set that to Yes then try?

BLF - Busy Indication based on set enabled" is set to "Yes" in System Options Assignment.

BLF works as I would expect. Secretarial button lights if boss is off hook on any line. I need the secretary to be able to answer the second multicall appearance of the boss' line. I sort of worked around it one time by putting a multicall appearance of the boss' phone on the secretary's phone. But that was causing me to burn too many buttons and is kind of messy.

Don't use the Secretarial button at all, just use DSS/BLF instead that way the second call will ring the DSS/BLF key

Secretarial / Manager Keys were the fore runners to DSS/BLF on the SX2000. DSS/BLF was a options upgrade Sec/Man was standard.

3300 users have DSS/BLF as standard so no need to use Sec/Man keys

According to the documentation and my experience, the secretarial button is the same as a dss/bf with the additional capability of one button transfer.

A dss/bf has the same problem as the secretarial button.

Ok I learned something new today
I have always avoided it as I thought DSS/BLF was better as it functioned on the SX2000

I will give it a try myself next time I have to setup this.

As for the ringing on 2 lines I think you have already programmed the only option that will work, a second DSS/BLF of the Managers phone on the Secretary phone, unfortunately as you stated it will burn another key.

The controller will not allow a second appearance of a dss/bf button for the same number on a phone.

We came off a Rolm 9751 that had been programmed to do more tricks than a side show magician to the point that no one could explain how some calls were being routed. I am attempting to work though processes and educate users instead of just slamming in work arounds and kludges. This is an issue I can't seem to work around without a huge amount of kludges.

thanks.
