Secondry DNS server

Hi all,
I want to add a secondry DNS server based on linux in my Windows2000 Server environment. I have made neccesarry changes to named.conf for a slave server, but it did'nt worked out. It fails to create the zone files that should be automatically created in /var/named.....
Plz tell me what do i need to do and how can i check whether my configuration settings are right or not.......Or do i need to make some changes to my master server settings which is on windows ......plz help me as needful......thanks in advance

This is more likely a restriction on the windows server. I know nothing about windows but check if it allows zone transfers from the secondary serevr.

Just a thought.

Henrik is right. in win2k server you have to tell who can get thenzone from this server.

I don't know etiher where to click and find that informatin.

Also make suer you do not have any firewall isuee in linux system.

i checked out but can't find anything at windows end
i checked the var/log/messages it says the fowllowing

linux named[1298]: zone 1.168.192.in-addr.arpa/IN: refresh : unexpected rcode <NXDOMAIN> from master 192.168.1.5#53
linux named[1298]: zone tvslave.net/IN: refresh : unexpected rcode <NXDOMAIN> from master 192.168.1.5#53

plz help me out and tell me whats the matter

You master (windows) says the domain the slave wants doesn't exist. Check your /etc/named.conf file for typos.
