Some of our company's groupwise users are in secondary domain, and the secondary domain server is connected with primary domain through a T1 connection. Now the T1 will be cut off for a uncertain period, maybe 5 to 6 months, so the secondary domain will totally lost connection with the primary domain. My question is "Can the email users in this secondary domain still send and receive emails to each other in this period?

Are you looking @ having two seperate GW systems during this time period? I ask because the first thing that pops into my mind is synchronization between domains.

Yes, the secondary domain has their own GW server.

are they in a seperate nds tree?
do they share a gwia or do you have two ?

I know it sounds like a lot of questions. But I know where Terry712 is going and these are questions that are needed in order to give the best advice.

Yes, they are in different trees under GWSYS and they don't share a GWIA, primary domain has a GWIA, secondary domain doesn't.

they will be ok to send mails
it's not ideal that the link is down for so long
and it some respects it may be prudent to break it to two systems but thats awkward

you will not be able to move users between postoffices or domains during this period and adding / deleting etc means that the databases are out of sync - not the best scenario

not sure how your external mail is setup but you may encounter probs here with mx records

is there no way to get the line back quicker or even put in some slow line just to replicate the cahnges
and keep it sync'ed

Thanks a lot for your kindly help.
