is there anyone who can answer if secondary crash phones and e911 are time division multiplexing. leadership is asking for this info, yet I'm not too sure of this answer.

By “time division multiplexing” (aka TDM), they are probably asking if the corresponding phones are digital (yes to TDM) or IP (no to TDM).

would you mind explaining a little more in detail for me, I'm not quite understanding. nevertheless i really appreciate your help.

post list station output for some of your crash phones. set-type will be an indicator of type mentioned by Gordon Webster

The question really is not valid. Any phone can be using TDM resources assuming it connects to a media gateway. On the Avaya system, "most" (I know someone will throw in DECT, BRI, Radio Wireless, etc) devices are either Analog, Digital, or IP (H.323 or SIP). Analog and Digital phones will be directly connected to a gateway and will always connect to the TDM bus. H.323 or SIP endpoints can communicate audio directly between IP addresses so 2 IP Phones "may" not be connected to a TDM bus. The same 2 IP Phones could be connected to a TDM bus if shuffling is disabled, when Service Observer or Call Recording is active, when transcoding is required to provide different CODEC algorithms to each device, or when IP Network Regions restrict the connectivity (such as when utilizing a TDM firewall).

And FYI, any other vendor which can provide analog or digital PSTN connectivity fits into the same category so don't let marketering tell you otherwise.

E911 is handled a variety of ways. It could be a third party overlay with emergency gateway using SIP, SIP Service Provider, CO/CAMA Trunks locally, or PRI providing PSTN connections. PSTN digital and analog circuits connected to gateways would be considered TDM even if they have a different backend protocol.
