Hi All,
A customer has asked if there is a way to use the second port on the Mxe in the event of a failure of the 1st port. I.e. they want to keep it plugged into the cisco switch at all times. They do not want to use spanning tree. Any ideas?

If they want the phone system to function they must use spanning tree, otherwise the processor will try to process duplicate messages which will hog processor time and ultimately take the system down.

Have 2 people yelling in both your ears sometime and see how well you cope.

P.S. It never ceases to amaze me how many requests there are like this one. Don't take that personally as I understand the customer is driving this.

Paraphrasing: We want to make this work but we don't want to do it the way the system was designed to operate. Is there another way to make it work. Answer - No.

Cheers KwbMitel. I knew this was the case but needed something to pass back to the Account Manager. This customer is the customer from hell!!

Have used both network interfaces on the MXe. As kwbMitel says you need to use Spanning Tree to prevent loops. The 3300 has options to interact with STP. Don't know why more people concerned with up time don't use both other then STP can cause issues if not set up correctly.
