The small office has 7 extensions. A change was made to disable a call pilot system that had been answering busy no answer calls. Now they want all extensions to ring on any of the 4 telco lines. All sets are set as Ring & Display. Fwd No Answer to N and Fwd on Busy to N.

The first inbound call rings the sets properly. The second inbound ringing line rings once and disconnects.

What was missed?
Thanks

Does this happen every time..?
Did it only start with the removal of the CP?
Can you call out on line 2?

I would disconnect line 2 from system..making sure your at demarc of line 2..busy out line one and test call the pilot..again..see if it still happens..or anac line 2 and remove from system and test call directly thus eliminating bad cable pair coming in..

Thanks for the start. All lines work as far as calling out, or calling in as long as two lines are not ringing concurrently. The phone company hunt group routes calls to the 4 lines. (One 'public number'). That seems to work fine. If someone is using a line, the second call comes in normally, ringing all extensions. However, if the line 1 is ringing, and a second call arrives and tries to ring also, the caller hears 1 ring, and then silence.

I had the office admi test the following situations.

First call in always wroks as expected.

If First Call is active (Not ringing, but Off Hook), the second call rings the second line as desired.

If first call is still ringing, and the second call arrives, the second call gets one ring, and then silence.

All lines have good dial tones etc.

YOu need to test it at the demarc to see if it duplicates the problem without being attached to the CICS. It could be bad CO equipment. I have had this exact problem- it was a bad pair gain card.

going wayyyyyy out here in left field.....
try dialing feature #84 select all lines(cancel line redirect) on all your telephone sets. I had a similar situation once and that was the solution......

one other thing.... the irad is default to auto answer on, on the cics. although that generally answers line one and provides a "fax" squeal.....

Took me a little bit to isolate the IRAD issue westcoaster. I had that a few months ago, is it only default "on" with 6.1? I don't think its ever happend to me prior to that software version.....

I'm not sure exactly when they started shipping them that way, but I think you are correct, it hadn't happened proir to 6.0, 6.1

Are all the lines programmed for prime set as the Main Answering phone/1st DN? or are they programmed for the CP DN?

Thanks for the ideas.

CP is not active. No Prime set assignments are active. The irad modem squeal is hear after 10 rings +- on the first line. It's not used, but as noted, defaults on.

I'll schedule a trip onsite and arrange for the test at the telcom interconnect box to isolate if it's CO issue or not. The Line redirect also something that'll be double checked. I'll report back on the resolution once I've done both suggestions.

Thanks

What do you mean by CP not active ? Is it turned off? If so what is call FWD busy set to.

CP is not active. Reset, not initialized. Not in use.

On All DN's
Fwd No Answer set to None
Fwd on Busy set to None

f** XFTEST
AND REMOVE ALL FEATURE CODES BEGINING W/ 9
REBOOT PHONE SYSTEM AND SHOULD WORK
