I am looking for a conference phone that would work with our IP office 403

SO far I found Polycom Soundstation 2 Avaya with 2 ext. mics for 719.99USD.

Does anybody have any experience with conference room phones?
What kind of phones do you use for that purpose?

Yes, the one you have, you just need to free up/add an analogue port to use it :)

well I cannot make one free that easy
But add? How would that be possible?

Expansion module, they come in 16 and and 30 port but are not cheap, unless you can find a recon one somewhere or a working example from ebay (sorry for swearing). It will need upgrading/downgrading to your systems firmware to work correctly once fitted :)

I would only need 3 + spare

Well I have to do some research now what I will do

But what is the difference between the digital phone and the IP phone? I am confused a lil bit there

Thank you already for all your help!!!

Digital phones connect directly to the system and require an indivual port to connect too, they are just improved versions of an analogue phone with multi line and programmable buttons basically. IP phones talk via your network just as your PC does and as such can even be placed in remote locations as long as there is a connection to the network where the system resides :)

I think he needs a BP this is what gives IPO a bad rep!

What I need is a training about all that haha

My manager came to me a couple weeks ago and told me that I'm now responsible for the phone system
So thats where I am now, trying to get information and figure out the system

So you are responsible.
Get some budget and kick the 403 out and get anIP500v2.
Get a 3th party ip endpoint license and a polycom IP5000/6000 or 7000.

Keep in mind that if you are using DT or IP phones that they do not work (DT) or need licenses (IP)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Poor management - not your fault.
At the end of the day a good support company would have answered, supplied, fitted and supported your needs.
You woudl not have spent the best part of your week looking at this and getting no where.
As mentioned above it is bad practice to put your alarms through the system. Who ever did that is not worth talking to, but find a nice local support company to help answer and advise you.
That way when things go wrong you also get help in double quick time with someone who knows how to find the problem and how to fix it or how to get you working again in the fastest possible time.

Well we had someone in from a support company, he charged us a lot of money and didn't solved anything
But that is an other subject!
And this is the reason why they put me in charge

Oh well what can you do lol

Get a good BP.
Where are you located?
There are enough good BP's on this board.

find a better one.
There are lots of good IP Office resellers out there.
Seriously - it will cost you more in your time alone to learn and support the system than to just pick up the phone to someone, ask a question...
Years of hands on experience with decent engineers - cannot be learn't online or through a manual.
When the system goes wrong you'll be under a lot of pressure.

I wonder what my diesel bill would look like to get there!!!

TBH, the cheapest (and nastiest) approach would be to split or double the fax extension and put the alarm on that as I guess that thge alarm line only dials out under alarm or fault conditions (i.e. it isn't redcare). It is unlikely that the fax and alarm will seize the line at the same time - but that is a risk that you must evaluate and decide on. You can then use the freed analogue port for your conference phone.

If you decide to add an expansion unit - first check how many you already have! Under 3 and you are ok. you coudl also look for a network Alchemy Pots unit - these will work with IP 403

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Might want to check the alarm company don't dial into it too, they may not appreciate a fax machine answering the modem :)

Fair point (I did say it was the nastiest approach ;-))

The nastier the better it is sometimes.
