Sorry for this thread but I have searched the forum and acan't find it.

Someone posted a document on how to get an alert for voicmail to appear on key sets. The solution involved the use a of a phantom hotdesk user that never logged in. Can someone direct me please.

If you are looking for a way to associate a key with a non-prime voicemail simply program a message waiting indicator on a key using the DN of the associated mailbox.

The hotdesk solution was related to a mailbox that was associated with a huntgroup I believe.

Can you be more specific in what you are trying to achieve instead of asking questions about what you believe is the solution?

Yes sorry.

It's for a service desk. I have created a VM mailbox for them for times when everyone is busy and so voice calls will be directed to it. Once someone leaves a message I would like a MWI on multiple service desk sets (5340) to flash. I have done this for someone before using this document which worked fine, but i never tagged it.

I found a document on here that matched the above specification that I kinda remember inlcuded a hotdesk user and a ring group (as notifications go to the first user in the group) But I can't remember how it all fitted together.

Please ignore this tread now, I have worked out how it was done and found the original thread.

For future reference, you do not need to waste a license to accomplish this task. There are many places where voicemail and lamps are required that are either not possible or difficuly to work with. It is usually when calls are presented to groups (Hunt/ACD/Ring) and voicemail is required either afterhours or when no answer.

The solution is to create a terminating DN as the first hop before routing to the Group and/or voicemail. As you've discovered, a hotdesk user can be configured as this teminating DN. The downside of this is that each hotdesk user consumes licensing. If only 1 instance is required, no problem but if several or many are required it can be expensive.

On a typical system I use 1 Phone license to create an extension (5224 with dual PKM) This phone would have 120 routable DN's via the Prime ext and key programming. These keys can also be used to create the BLF's necessary for 5550 consoles. Each key can be programmed with a DN in much the same manner as your hotdesk solution with much lower cost.

Rob, Another useful hint. When you see a useful post you might want for future reference, you can add it to your archive. (Right side Bar) I've been using this forum for 3 years and I only just discovered the archive

Yes, I've just started using the archive feature. Unfortunately I found this thread before I used the service.
