Hi there,

I have a tiny bit of knowledge about web building. Have used some custom programs some time ago, WISYWIG programs for local council, much like word. Have played about a tiny bit with HTML but really, don't know much at all.

I have a person doing some Pro Bono work using SeaMonkey to build a simple and good workable website for our agency. Thing is I've looked up the SeaMonkey site and having trouble finding the web building component of the program. Does anyone know anything about it?

I'm aware of other options such as Joomla and Drupal but this person is using SeaMOnkey.

It is fully documented within the download.
It may be worth noting that very few pro web builders would use a WYSIWYG editor for building even the simplest websites these days. Joomla and Drupal are aimed at the CMS market rather than simple static one-pagers, so be sure you know what the end requirement is before choosing your tools.

You can always download the file from the link in the first response, unzip it, and look at the documentation on your computer. Sometimes that's faster than trying to find things on the website.

Thank you John and Miros, both helpful. Actually I thought the person was using Drupal, which I was happy enough about. Have downloaded Sea Monkey, thanks for the link. I think I didn't download it because it seemed to be just a browser rather than a website builder. Will find out soon enough what it does.

Well, no surprises given the level of knowledge I have, I am still looking for the web building part, but I've only spent a few minutes doing that so will go back and spend a few minutes more.

OK, you're probably not interest but I'm letting you know anyway. i worked out that it's actually a browser, Sea Monkey. I expected that when I ran the program I'd be opening a web page builder. I feel like one of the people in one of my classes when I used to teach basic computers to seniors..."I did it!" I found it under "File-New-Composer Page". Bingo. Web page editor. Now, it better be WYSIWYG or I'll be sad.

Hi

The WYSIWYG editor can also be accessed through Window menu | Composer command, or by pressing Ctrl-4, or by specifying the -edit switch in the command line when starting SeaMonkey.

Based on Mozilla suite's editor was built the standalone NVU project, and that was later rewritten in KompoZer. See the later if you feel that SeaMonkey is too big.
