Seagate Dockstar Pogoplug

This is a general question wondering if anyone has had experience setting a Seagate Dockstar Pogoplug up on a mixed network without subscribing to the Pogoplug services.

I only want to use it 'in-house' to share files between machines on my local network (4 macs, 1 XP, 1 ubuntu - the ubuntu working would be a bonus)
I have not had time to set it up yet, still New-In-Box.

Anyone have one and like it? hate it? caveats to be aware of?
