I have an 1841 with Advanced Enterprise 12.4(25) GD, not T train or ED. I have ip http server, ip http secure-server, ip http authen local, username bla priv 15 secret blabla, ip domain-name local, hostname blabla, and passwords with local auth on vty 0 4 and console.

I have SDM loaded on flash and the computer, Yes they can ping (I also tftp'd the new image from the computer). I have ip http secure-server as well and built RSA modulus keys. I added the exception to Firefox CA.

When I try http or https, both from the SDM start page and from the browser (since it is loaded on both flash and the computer) it gets to username and password, which I enter. Then the page comes up that says "loading...please wait. Do not close this page until you exit SDM." But then it stops loading and then nothing. I see nothing in particular in the logs on the router. I have used SDM on a 3640 from this computer with this installation before. Before I reload SDM on this Windoze piece of dung, anyone have any suggestions??? I need SDM on an IPSEC capable router to practice for CCNA Security then CCSP.

I forgot to mention, it is off. I also did mention that it works with another router (3640 and 837)...

I had this happen. It was a java issue, the jave version on my pc auto updated and it was to new.

SDM tends to be a pain (as opposed to ASDM on the ASA which works well). It is very sensitive to Java version. I had it working well with version 1.5 rev 10 (AKA 5.0 rev 10). SDM tends to be unstable with Java 6. I've had it hang quite a few times.

I just finished my CCSP and I'm rather astounded that Cisco is pushing SDM when they haven't bothered to update it in almost 2 years. You will have to use it for the exams, and it does make life easier in some cases, it's just picky. Consider using a virtual machine for your SDM sessions.

BTW... I've been successful using SDM on routers running under GNS3. You may want to check it out to practice a DMVPN configuration.
