SDLT600 slow verify

Does anyone have any knowledge on the above? Specifically if anyone has any problems with the speeds of backup, drivers etc while using veritas 8.6 or 9.1.

While both backup drives were using veritas 9.1 on the same server - and with both drives backing up at the same rate we have gone from verifying at 470 meg a min on the SDLT320 to just 260 meg a min on the brand new SDLT600.

Is there anything we can check in the options or maybe it's something to do with the new type 2 tapes?

Just looks at the FAQ's and noticed that the SDLT600 isn't on the list of supported drives - would that slow the verify down?

Any help / comments would be appriciated

Hi Carl,

We are starting to see some of these SDLT600's in our lab - so far I have not been overly impressed with there performance so far - we are currently using the Quantum driver & ge around 500Mb/Min throughput on backup (not sure on verify).

There is a new driver pack for BE9.1 (release 41) not sure if this contains an updated veritas driver for the SDLT600 - Ill give it a go today & post the findings.
