This is probably a simple question....

....we are looking to enable our employees to make calls from their 4025 Supersets without manually dialling - instead just click a number from an internal CRM solution to trigger a call.

Our user's desktops run on Citrix terminals with a Windows desktop and the internal CRM is delivered through this on Oracle forms, so we can call either an Oracle/Solaris backend or local desktop Windows application. The office system uses a Mitel 3300.

Is this relatively simple to do? Should we be using the Mitel SDK or is there an API we can access directly? Any hints?

The Mitel MSA provides a lot of options and we just need a steer towards starting - it ought to be fairly simple, i keep thinking!!!! Thank guys.

The sticky point is you are using 4000 series phones.

If memory serves, CTI for those phones required a physical connection thru a serial cable and only then with specific models.

I could be wrong but...

Thanks for that - the 4025s we have were only purchased last year and from examination don't have a serial cable socket.

They are definately digital sets - guess i need to check with Mitel!

On the assumption the phones will support it, is generating the calls fairly simple using the SDKs that Mitel MSA provides?

I recently happened to be reading the release notes for Mitel's Unified Communicator Advanced and 4025 sets are supported by that application as it happens.

There is also an express version that only requires Client software.

There is a 10 day free trial available for the express version (or there was last time I looked) contact your local VAR to get set up if you're interested.

Thank we'll explore that. UCA is a piece of software(!)??

UCA is the evolution of Mitel's Your Assistant product. It is a software offering that runs on a customer provided server (Currently Windows, soon to be Mitel Standard Linux)

On further reading the Express version does not support 4025's
UC Express is a lightweight, server-less Unified Communications client that provides productivity enhancements such as click to dial, incoming caller ID pop-up, PC-based missed calls and speed calls list, and personal and corporate directory integration. UC Express is supported with the 5312, 5324, 5330 and 5340 IP sets.

From UC-Advanced release Notes said:

Windows Vista 64 bit
Windows 2003 Server
Windows 2008 Server (32 and 64 bit)

You have multiple options if you are have a Mitel 3300. If you are running on an SX-2000 then are limited. Depending on the application UCA might work but be careful as it doesn't have full TAPI support. Mitel calls it talk to TAPI and many applications cannot open the driver.
