Is anyone using this? If so, can we get some feedback? Do you have to be an expert ASP/VB user to make it work? Our reseller is dragging the chain on getting responses to these questions. We would like to purchase it on the basis of the 'promo' material seen on Exact's site, but digging deeper is creating concerns. Don...any ideas??

David,

I know almost nothing about eSynergy except how to use it. I have zero customers using it and have never performed an implementation.

I think eSynergy is a great product but I do not have the bandwidth to take this on.

Most SDK's in my experience do require you to be a VB or ASP programmer to utilize them properly. They are never a "magic wand" that simply does things for you. SDK or Software Developement Kits simply give you a set of DLL's or ocx's that allow you to develope 3rd party applications based on the software it was designed for. Most of what you can do with an SDK you can do without it. You may get several "sample" applications that you can use to figure out ways to do whatever you want. I would be wary of just purchasing an SDK and expecting it to do process out of the box. Out of the box it will just sit there until you apply your own programming.

As for this SDK in particular....I can not tell you what you get.

Any time though that you propose to fix problems with programming you should consider having "expert" programming support.

Just my $.02

Andy's advice is solid.

I have several customers using the e-Synergy SDK, and have had several customizations developed using the solution.

Also, have become a Confirmed Groupie for the Interconnect 3rd party solution that was developed by an Exact Partner using the SDK. Have installed it on two sites in the past week alone. (Slick e-Synergy quotes that push to Progression, ES or Globe back offices. Offers many other features and functions, but this is the most significant.)

Depending on requirements, I would evaluate best steps based upon:
1. in-house e-Synergy/back-office database and function knowledge (still on progression?)
2. In-house ASP/SQL programming resources
3. Long-term goals (invest in product and internal resource training if many mods are planned/desired) versus investment in have modifcations deveopled by Exact or SDK-savvy partner.

Happy to provide reference name for Partner that is very adept with SDK who can probably offer genuine pro's/con's. As a user and as a customer.

Thank you canimp. How are you by the way?

I have had much better dialogue now with a mutual friend at Exact (PK) and my confusion has been somewhat resolved. It was case of 'misleading' advertising on the behalf of our good friends at E and some 'too short' responses to fundamental solution questions.

I will leave my reseller to get this resolved for me, but if he feels that some kind of relationship can be struck with your reseller for our benefit, then let's talk. I know he is watching this thread and I will hear about this very soon when the sun comes up on your side of the globe.[bigears]

I'm great (And we have our first stay-on-the-ground-snow for the season! Wish I was Down-under.) You?

Same reseller? If so, please send my best regards and do let him know that this savvy SDK Partner is a relationship well worth cultivating for meeting requirements for you guys, and many of their other clients.

Not with my old employer (in theory), but that same old email address still works if either you or he wish further details.

Ironically, an Exact employee mentioned you guys to me just today.

Really nice to hear you guys still in the game and pushing the envelope. Kudos.

Same reseller - is there any other??? Sucking and grovelling gets 10% discount by the way.

I hope our name was not included with any vulgar language during your discussions with Exact today. As frustrated as we get with the damn company, we roll with the punches and some how get good results. The are a few gems still left, although our little Canadian star has moved on. I have 3 emails remaining unanswered from their CEO who used to run this region from 3 years ago - perhaps one day he might respond.

I will mention your proposal to our mutual mate in California. At this stage, I think we can achieve what we want to get going. We will more than likely be in LA doing the training in November - we can't fund an airfare for you to come out and catch up at all??

Email me please.

Kismet? I'll be in CA Sunday, Nov. 5 - Friday, November 10. Client site visit already planned for Newport Beach, CA, 40 min from LA. When there, I usually make a point of meeting Hugh for lunch - hop, skip, jump from their offices. As well, I can drive anywhere required in the evenings. Would love to catch up with you also? Does the timeline fit? Happy to extend stay a few days either side of this planned visit on my dime. A little CA vacation and a visit with your team would be extraordinary.

We think alike. Had already mailed you and cc:ed your partner in crime before I rechecked the thread.

You will be amused. Chum asked for help surfacing something on your account. The same employee was my roomie and happened to be close at hand a few years ago in Chicago when some Aussie Guy scared the heck out of me. ;>

While performing the task, she realized the connection as we chatted. It was a fun highlight of the day and brought back some great recollections of that trip for both of us.

Based upon the requested task and her comments, I have a hunch that it is noticed that behavior of regional staff has triggered some NA activity. "Account Management" was mentioned in her conversation.

Hope we can meet up in November. Regardless, it has been a genuine delight to hear you this evening. Hi to Luke.
