I am having trouble getting into a switch remotely.

I have the same settings in my CT switch as my MA switch in regards to the SDI/TTY build out and the MA switch is fine while the CT switch is not accessible.

I checked the recent posts and my TTY build outs are perfect. I disabled, enabled, switched TTY's and did everything shy of outing the software or switching the switch.

Whenever I dial in I keep getting squares. I tried all kinds of different modem settings and all. I am connecting to the modem and both TTY ports seem fine when my VT terminal is connected.

Is there switch corruption or something?

What modem are you using because I know with USRobotics you need to go into the modem and also make some chanegs.

US Robotics Sportster 33.6

I remember doing that back in the day! How would I do that?

I'm a voice over I.P. IPC tech now and I drabble in Nortel here and there. I have forgot so much.

Nortel Bulletin 97042 gives you the setup parameters. It's for 33.6 but works on 56k also.

Configuration Procedure for U.S. Robotics Sportster 33.6 Modem

1. There are (8) dip-switches on the rear of the modem. Set switches S1, S3, S7, & S8 in the down
position, the rest in the up position.

2. Connect the modem to a terminal or personal computer using a 25-pin RS232 cable.
NOTE: It is not recommended to use a PC unless it is certain that the serial port of the PC can be set to
9,600 baud. The actual serial port rate may not be what is indicated by the software on the PC.

3. Set the terminal or personal computer serial port to 9,600 baud (8 data bits / no parity / 1 stop bit ).

4. Turn the power ON to the modem.

5. Using the terminal or the terminal portion of the personal computer communications package, issue
the following AT command.
AT&B1&W&W1

6. Turn the power OFF to the modem, and disconnect it from the terminal or personal computer.

7. Set the (8) dip switches on the rear of the modem as follows. Set switches S1, & S4 in the down
position the rest in the up position.

8. Connect the modem to the Meridian 1 system as instructed in the NTPs.

9. Turn the power ON to the modem.

NOTE: Assure that the SDI ports, the modem is connected to, are set to 9,600 baud and set up for DTE
operation, Core ports on J21 are fixed at 9,600 baud and DTE operation.

The modem is now ready for communication with the Meridian 1.

Good luck

Wow, thanks so much. I'll try it and let you know!

I believe that is for core modem operation on a PBX not an option 11.
