Anyone have any idea why I can recieve data but not send to my NT8D41 Quad serial data interface paddle board? I have tried DTE/DCE and different buad rates.

GHTROUT I have done all of that I have even tried another paddle board and same result. It's rls 3 opt 61c. I have tried it in both cores too.

I also tried a QPC841C QSDI card in the front and it worked fine.

The NT8D41 paddle boards were in the back the QPC841C QSDI was in the front.

the 841c dies with rls 5.. we had to scrap those and add d41's for rls 5 upgrade

I'm curious, has this port EVER worked or is this a new paddle board install?

It did work before. It was removed from a site and replaced with a fiber remote cabinet. Now I am getting it up and running as a test switch. I have everything working except the paddle boards.

Have you tried all 4 ports with the same result? If that is the case, sounds like a serial adapter pinout issue.

Yes I have tried all 4 ports I even tried different cables. I have 1 port set for DCE 9600 and another set for DTE 9600. The DCE one is the one that works for recv. I thought that it should be DTE if it was going to a dumb terminal.

Are the cables known working? The only difference between DTE & DCE is pin's 2 & 3 are reversed (RX & TX)

And have you verified correct dip switch settings?

All the cables I have used are known to be good except the ribon cables that conect to the paddle board. I have not tested them yet. They are the ones that give me recv not send, but why would 4 cables have the same problem?

Yes I have them set acording to the NTP's. When I enable one of the TTY's then the red disable light goes out. I know that the ports are set corectly. I just cant figure out why I can only recv on them and not send.

are you sure the wiring is right.. layer one can cause that. is it just one card?

I have tried 2 other cards they are just the 2 port paddle boards, but I get the same result. If you mean wiring from the tty to the dumb terminal then yes im sure its good. I can use the same cables to access the core tty ports with the same terminal.

You have a card cage problem. I'll bet that the system that you took this card out of has a different part number then the one you put it in. There were issues with this 3 years ago when everyone started upgrading to P-IV's. Check it out.

your paddle boards do not use the same pin outs as the cores (j-25 and 26)

The 9 pin RS232 plug is the same on both isn't it. I know the cores use a 25 pin, but I have a 25 to 9 pin adapter that I use.
