I am wondering the difference between the types of Memory Cards. MultiMediaCard (MMC) , Secure Digital Memory Card (SD) , and Flash Cards.
Could anyone offer some insight?

It's like everything in the electronics trade, if only they (the manufactures) could decide on one standard!
Apart from the obvious physical size differances there are differant speed types, faster read write times indicated by numbers like 16X/30X/40X etc or words like ultra and high speed.
Trend has taken manufactures are electronics goods towards ever smaller cards and at the moment SD (secure digital) is probably the most popular and widely used in goods like mobile phones and camera's
Compact flash, which was the original flash card type is slowly disapearing due to it's larger size but still remains the card of choice when size is not an issue because of it's cheap price and rugidness.
So the differances between card types largely remain cosmetic and choice is usually made by the manufacturer of the goods you buy as to the type fitted.
As with anything, if you are looking to buy then go branded and given a choice sellect the faster read/write products especially for electronics that need speed ie: camera's with video shoot mode.
Remember flash memory does wear out eventually, it can only be written to and read from a certain number of times.
There really isn't a bad type but going with the more popular ones like SD ensure easy supply and lowest prices.

SD and MMC are interchangable as far as I'm aware. Also, MMC is just an SD Card without the security that SECURE DIGITAL offers. Therefore, MMC cards are usually slightly cheaper.
I'd go for SD Cards since they are more popular, and have extra security.
As Dragon says SD and MMC are generally compatible with each other, with SD having built-in security features - you can write-protect them and I think you can use them to store copy-protected files as they support DRM features. Check the documentation for the device that you want to use them with though because not everything supports both. SD cards are generally faster than MMC ones and come in larger sizes - you won't find a 1GB MMC card at the moment, for instance. MMC cards are generally a bit cheaper than SD cards of the same capacity.
If you want the largest storage capacity go for Compact Flash cards. Last time I checked the largest was 4GB, nearly as much as a DVD, and 8GB ones were on the horizon. The largest SD card at the moment is 2GB but you can't find them for love nor money.
