Hi All,

I have a quick question about SCSI termination:

I have a Adaptec 2940UW adapter with a Mammoth-LT drive on the internal bus and an Iomega Zip 250 on the external bus. Obviously both are terminated.

I am removing the mammoth and getting a VXA-1 external tape drive.

My question is: The zip drive has a terminator switch on it. Can I put the VXA drive between the host adapter and the zip drive and terminate the zip drive as the end of the chain, or do I need to reverse it and get an LVD/SE terminator and have the zip drive in the middle and terminate the VXA drive?

Thanks in advance.

Terminate the zip. Whatever is on the end needs the term.

You need to look to the adaptec site and see if the 2940 automatically terminates if nothing is connected internally. I can't remember. Unless there are internal drives that you haven't mentioned that might have the term enabled.

Thanks, Ed.

The 2940 is auto-terminatable in the cards' initialization. That I remember.

Regards.
