Hi have a 2k adv server (latest patches) thats using BAB R11.1 for a year backing up two fas920c filers to a 24 slot library with a direct connection to the one of the filers, it uses ndmpd to do this.

Yesterday i plumbed in a 8 slot scsi autochanger and lto2 ultrium drive onto the same server thinking "while the filers are backing up to their library this box can now get on with backing up the windows boxes"

the scsi attatched drive is working fine but i cannot get the Fibre attatched storage to appear in BAB as Online.

Has anyone had and ndmpd (NAS) Device and local scsi tapedrives working together

I presume you have the second library SAN attached for exclusive use backing up via a windows host server, and nothing to do with NAS right ? In which case run ARCserve device configuration and setup the library, once configuration is completed the drive and library should show up 'online' at have a logical connection to each other. If it does not, check this document for further advice:

Oh, one other thing if you're running more than 1 auto-changer on the same installation (even if they are two 1 drive auto-changers) you will need to purchase and install the tape library option.

Thanks vschumpy that document has helped, i have manged to get our NAS Backing up again !!

I got an FC Link from a w2k server to the NAS which has Library 1 SCIS'd to the NAS it self, Arcserve manages the NDMPD backup only, no data touches the windows host server.

I set up a Local Scsi 8 slot changer on the winodws host to handle the windows data thats not stored on the NAS .

I can get one or the other working so far,

Hmm - do you have the TLO installed and licenced? If not the problems you are experiencing would add up here.

Other than that try and setup the libraries manually (as they have 1 drive each it should be easy - no drive order to worry about).

Other than that I'd need to see either a screenshot of devicemanager, or a link to the libsetup.log (don't copy and paste it here - they are nigh on impossible to read on this forum).

yeah , we got TLO and NAS options installed, I'm gonna try to set them up manually.

I now have all the tape drives online in DM and the Nas library is working.

BTW the nas library has two drives, I've never come accross a drive order menu.. hmm

right,

Just in case anyone wants to know how this was fixed..

The document linked to by vschumpy helped loads,

I disabeld the windows driver for the new scsi mounted tape drive and re ran the device config wizard several times until it managed to pick up the NAS and Windows tape librarys.. it was the third time before it found them both
