SCSI Flavors?

What's the deal with all the different SCSI flavors? Mike Meyers states there's 12 different types (pg. 806 All-in-one 4 th. Edition). Tcat Houser states there are 7 Different types( e-book). Scott Mueller states there are 11 types ( pg. 518 Upgrading and Repairing PC's 13 th. Edition). Someone please claify what i need to know for the exam .
