I have a user with a G4 with OS 9.0.2 installed. I have installed OS X on top of 9, we did not have the option to partition the disk as it already has a lot of applications on.

Installation went ok , however I now notice that the 2 x 35 Gb SCSI drives are not showing on the desktop. I have looked in system profiler and they are not there.

I am only seeing HD0 and HD1 off the internal ATA2 , any ideas on how to either refresh the parameters or does X have a problem reading SCSI ? ( A reboot has not down this )

I am currently downloading the patch version 10.1.15

Cheers

Update from first post as above:

System profiler see this as a Acard 850UF , I have spoken to apple today and they say it is a s/ware issue with acard. I have looked at their web site and cannot see anything about drivers for 10.1.5. Any ideas ?

I am having the same problem. Did you ever find a solution to the problem. Apple says find the Manufacture of your SCSI card
and see if they have updates for OS X. I looked but did'nt find anything.

Hey,Visvid! I tried something right after I wrote you. I opened my G3 to get vendor info on my ATA card. I paused for a moment and thought what if I attach my second drive to the open ribbon slot that is attached to the startup disk. When I turned the computer back on I Saw my new drive on my desktop. I went to disk utility, erased the new drive just to put the right volume directory and all is good each drive except my third internal drive. I think it is time for me to purchase a new ATA Card (upgrade). I you know anything good let me know.

Thanks

I too have the aCard 850UF. It was made by aCard, but sold OEM to ProMax. I bought it from them as the Promax ATA-33 card. A look at the ProMax site reveals that his card will NOT work with OS X. They have another card for sale that will (ATA 133) for $129.00. I have no idea if that is a good price or not, but that's what I've found. I guess I'll have to pay it if I want to use the two drives connected to the ATA33 under OS X.

I was going to try to connect one of the drives to the second ribbon slot but the sizes are different, damn the luck. Sounded like a great short term solution.

Cheers!

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in replying,, what i finally did was resolve back to OS 9 and all seems ok

I am having the same problem with OSX not seeing the scsi disks. The scsi card is an Atto Express PCI UL2D. Currently Yellow Dog linux is installed. If I try either OS9 or OS10, neither installer sees the hard disk. Any suggestions?
