I have a Mammoth2 and when I try to open it when there is a backup going on, it now wont let me, says locked by SCSI. This never used to happened before, how can I change it? I use Legato.

I hope you did use NetWorker ;-)

What exactly did you do ?

On the front of the Mammoth2, I push the button for Open Door and it should say Press Enter but it doesnt, it says SCSI Controlled. So I have to hit the reset in order to get the door open.

Now i got you.

This maybe true. In general, SCSI has the capability to lock the door
or to ignore hard-coded unmount/eject commands until this will be released by the software.
You may control this via the SCSI Mode Select parameter list. However, the software
handles this for you automatically.

Fo be able to eject the media you must unmount it from the device before you
should be able to press the eject button. It would not be good for any software
if you would be able to eject during a read/write process.

How can I change it back so it will let me do eject? It has been working fine for 3 years, now out of nowhere I have to reset it everytime I want to change tapes. The back up will be done and nothing is going on but the scsi still has it locked.

what type of jukebox do you have?

Have you looked at the jukebox owner manual? Or called their support line?

Did you update to NW 7 already? If yo, the new Common Device Interface
may be the cause for your problem. In this case, you need to set the device
attribute CDI to "not used".

Yes I did just upgrade! Where is that setting, on the hardware or software?

We are talking about NW, so it is a software attribute for the device.
