hi, all

I have a question about the scsi adatper connected the IBM 3583 library to TSM server.

currently, We have two scsi adapters in a IBM xseries pc server which is the TSM server with windows 2000. one of those two scsi adapter is associated the all hard drives of the server and the 3583 library. The other only was installed in the system and no any scsi devices connected with it.

Considering about the backup performance, I would like to move 3583 library which has four 3580 drivers to the free scsi adapter.

the question is if we need reconfigrure 3583 librarythe in tsm server to fit the new scsi adapter?

thanks

Frank

Yes, since the device paths will change you will need to change them. Also, it is only recommended to use 2 SCSI Tape Drives per SCSI Channel

Exactly, you can see in windwows the paths your scsi-devices have and you need to keep these synchronised in tsm. It's not that hard just compare before changing anything.

For performance it is realy important to split up and not to stick everything on one scsi-card. The reference is 1 scsi-card = 2 drives.
