This should be simple. I'm studying for CCNA and have some experience with routers. I have a 2500 router to work with and when I am setting it up, i get hung up on a little annoyance. I know I should be able to use the up arrow to scroll through recent commands. The problem is that it enters the return on the last used command so I cant modify it. The routers that I work on don't do this but I dont know how to correct this. I have used the logging synchronous command and the no logging console command but that is something different.

Do you run Win-XP on your PC?
If so, I think this is a common problem on the Hyperterminal-program that comes with that OS.
Try using Ctrl-P for previous and Ctrl-N for next command in the history buffer.

Thats right. I remembered that there were other issues with XP but didn't know about this one. I downloaded the HyperTerminal Private Edition upgrade from Hilgraves website and it solved my problem.
