In the testing stage of deploying Ellipse. Finding out if old scripts from MINT will run in Ellipse. Having number of problems scripts don't seem to trap error messages and SYSTEM 'WINEXEC ... doesn't seem to run. Anyone else out there fighting with this?
I am not a high level programmer but have been quite successful scripting in MINT.

Inco is also running into scripting problems. Many simple scripts (such as emulating [Send] or [F7]) don't work or make Ellipse abend. Currently, Inco has IK121, IK113, and IK120 open for this issue. It may have to go to Brisbane to be fixed.

Are you using msqmui.exe as your Ellipse startup??

G'Day all. We are cuurently "testing" Ellipse and as the main writer of Scripts, was keen to check it out. On advice from 2 Mincom Techos(thanks guys) was advised to use msqmui.exe and not msqlnh.exe(nightmare stuff). Effectively emulates a back end session(we are running on an OS390) which means it starts out at the MSM000B screen. Tested out the use of function keys(F7 as mentioned in an earlier note) and if it works in the "green screen" then it works in the script.

P.S. Winexec appears to work fine as well.
Cheers

Hi,

We are going to upgrade to Ellipse and was wandering if you could give us an update on your experience with using Scripts with Ellipse:
- are scripts still working and do you still use them
- did they require any changes for Ellipse
- any other aspects we need to be aware of
- any new developments since 2002?
- your general experience with other ways of interfacing and loading data to Ellipse, eg batch programs MSB*, BOC

GreenScreen" Scripts still working (Mint). Only changes
required were those relating to unx/screen field changes.

Tried VB Scripts, but found them too slow.

Use Mincoms Connector Functionality with a number of data loads from Excel/VBA , Word and have succesfully loaded data from Lotus Notes.

With the Connector functionality you have two accessess -
MSO and Mincom (Business) Objects.

For large Journal loads I use SAS to populate the MST903 file and then use MSB904,MSO919,MSB919. It takes a lot less time that any script would take. Any journal with more than
3996 entries could not be scripted in as there is a 999 page limit online.
