Script/tutorial on developing a chat service?

Hi all,

Could any please tell me where I could find a free script/tutorial on chat services? Not chat room but something like... when the customer views it it is like the operator is chatting with him/her only but on the operator's side, he/she could be chatting with a couple of customers at once. Please advise!

Thanks for your reply! Yes I have looked at those sites, the scripts on there are either "many-users" chat rooms or they are very costly... what I am looking for is a free/low cost one on one chat service so that I can chat with my customers one on one.

Please advice.
