I would like to do a quick poll here. For Progression SQL, open up any *SCRFIL_SQL table in enterprise manager in design mode, and let me know what you see for datatype of the field screen_data.

Mine is varbinary, but at least one user out there has a data type of image for the same field.

Also please let me know what version and sp of SQL you are using. I appreciate the feedack.

"What version of URGENT!!! are you using?

Using Macola 7.6.300b SQL 2000 Standard sp 3- I have varbinary

Using Macola 7.6.300c SQL 2000 don't know the service pack off the top - mine shows varbinary

Using 7.5.103f on a laptop, MSSQL 2000 SP 4, I have datatype image.

Using 7.6.400 on SQL2000 w/SP4 - datatype = image.

This is interesting folks. Exact told me this was designed to be varbinary.

The issue behind this is that we have developed a crystal report to show all modified screens in a Macola database, and we are attempting to pull the screen name - not the screen numb er such as AP0101 but Vendor Maintenance - from the screen_data field. We finally have a workaround, but there are 2 reports - one if your screen_data is varbinary, and another if the field is image.

OK follow-up question, for those of you who have the 'image' data type, are you also running Flexibility and if so have you experienced any inconsistencies with Flex firing for certain users and not for others?

7.6.400a 2000 sp4 with Flex and used daily
screen_data varbinary 3000 Allow Nulls

Using 7.6.400a with Flex on SQL2000 SP3
screen_data image allow nulls

I believe we may be experiencing issues with Flex for some users (and not for others) but will need to consult a colleague to be sure. My colleague is not due back until Tuesday 29th January.
