I'm trying to capture the "Windows Security" screen which appears when a user hits Ctrl+Alt+Del.

The reason for this is that I need identify to users which domain they are logged into, as part of a training progamme.

I innocently assumed PrintScrn would do this, but it doesn't, probably because of security. However, if I search Google Images, I can find examples.

Example:

How's it done?

Many thanks, John.

One 'cheat' that I've used for similar situations is to use a Virtual Machine. For example, run a screen capture utility in your host OS and run a non-maximized virtual machine. Use the host OS to capture whatever screenshots you need from the VM. Then, if needed, you can edit the image to crop only the area that you need.

That's seems a lenghty workaround, but probably in the long run the best way.

I'm thinking of the cheap and cheerful route, using my mobile camera as it'd be quicker, even if the pic is not as accurate as it could be.

I've got Snagit on another PC, so I'll try it. However that uses the "PrintScrn" key too, which seems disabled when Ctrl+Alt+Del is used. I'll let you know.

Thanks for your ideas!

Does it have to be their screen ??

ie couldn't you 'photoshop' the screen image you have already found and 'rub out' the bits you don't want and add the text/domain info yourself?

I like work. It fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours...
