I have an SUN machine worked well before. I shut it down
yesterday, after turned it on this morning, I loged in,
then the scree became black, only a cursor on it,
what happened?

What hardware is it?

Does Ctrl-Alt-Backspace stop the X server and drop you back to the console (can't remember if this works with Xsun)?

If not try Stop-A and then boot -s from the OK prompt to boot to single user mode, then troubleshoot from there...

Annihilannic.

no, you can not do anything on the black screen. you can move the mouse cursor, but can not type anything on it.

Did you chmod the dt files in the users profile that you are trying to log on as?

no, I did not change anything. I first login, everything is fine, then I shut it down. next day, I turn the power on,
this situation happened.

the machine is SUN, I donot know the specification.
