Hi Everyone,

Just a quick one,

Is it possible to scp to a windows machine directly or do i need some virtual shell running on the windows machine?

Dessie

you need an ssh server on our windows machine

Thats what i suspected,

Can you recommend any free windows packages?

WinSCP is a client software and not a server.

well i will be using the the scp command in a shell script, so i need a server running on the windows machine.

Thanks for all suggestions but i think ill use OpenSSH for Windows, seems to be the best for me.

You don't need a windows sshd server only a client. All my aix servers use ssh(d) and our windows clients use WINSCP to connect, no problem

Hi Planb,

what dessie1981 is looking for is to scp files from unix to windoz.

Meaning that he wants to use scp client on unix and land files on windoz (server in this case).

WinSCP can only work on a windoz client establishing the SCP connection.

Cheers

I agree with Anni:

Code:
You might be able to do it by running sshd under Cygwin? I've not tried it.

There are also commerical sshd (Win) servers such as WinSSHd and vshell.
