About a year ago, I loaded a server with just the character-based UNIX(Selected upon loading). Now I wish to have the GUI version working. I noticed that /usr/bin/startx is NOT installed as well as some other support files. Can the GUI version be installed through 'custom' or do I need to re-install the whole UNIX operating system and select 'Both' ???

You should just be able to add the missing packages through custom. You may need to remove and reinstall any patch bundles you have installed to make sure that any patches for the missing packages are also installed. Annihilannic.

This is quite an adventure. I went to the 'Software Manager' and began to install the necessary components. It fails trying to run the "Video Configuration Manager" due to incorrect permissions on the 'ccs', cqs, and one other file. I set up another user so that I could manually change the permissions upon getting the error. Fortunately, the scripts allow you to "RETRY"). The next roadblock is the following error: "Assertion failed: path != NULL, file "dbaseStanza.C", line 484. This was the error details of "The custom+ binary (backend) process has died."( I looked at my software configuration and I see that the Video Configuration Manager is listed as "not installed." That's my quest.
