Hello,
I am trying to configure my SCO to be able to see the main console from my Laptop PC, through VNC server, exactly as I was in front of the main console.
Able to see exactly the main console.
Able to ALT CRTL F1, F2 ... to change of screen and see exactly on my laptop what is dispalyed on the main console.
Can someone help me ?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
If you have downloaded vnc to your unix box, you should:
1)from the unix console as root command prompt, cd to the vnc folder and run vncpasswd to set a password for vnc.
2)start vnc by going to a command prompt and entering:
vncserver
3) from your pc , run vncviewer.exe. This should prompt for the system name and session (ie scounix:0), prompt for password and show the console on your pc.

An answer for mrregan :
"Thanks a lot for your quick answer.
I already did what you suggest, but with that I obtain a very beautiful new SCO screen, but it is not what I want.
I want to see what is already displayed on the main system consol, as I were with my Remote Laptop, the system console. Exactly the same we can do with the Windows world."
Best regards.

VNC does not support X:0 (the 'main' console screen). VNC starts an entirely new X session each time it starts.

You might check this out.
Claims to do what you want. I haven't checked it out myself (yet), but the only possibility I know of.

how do you download vnc to the unix box and run the setup ??

frenchdanyboy,
did u try the ???
please let me know i am trying to do the same thing you are from a windows XP pc/laptop

Thanks

When you download the vnc package you get a windows file and a unix file. FTP the file to unix , decompress and extract with tar (per instructions). Then you run vncpassword to setup password for vnc. Then start vncserver running (which is a perl script), it will display session number and return to command line. Go to pc, run vncviewer, put in login information, and you will basically have a second console.
