I am starting the process of replacing my existing server (Dell PowerEdge with 2 Pentium Pro 200's). I am running SCO 5.04 and Informix Dynamic Server 7.31. What kind of problems might I encounter loading SCO on new hardware such as a Dell server? The Caldera site has a hardware compatibility list but it hasn't been updated since 1998.

You would have to goto the dell website and check hardware compatability there.

they should be able to answer it.

The caldera one is not updated often, because they leave it upto the manufacturers to check there models. otherwise there compatability list would run into millions of makes and models. As every man and his monkey can build pc's !

I called Dell's "Advanced Operating Systems" group. (866 262-4094) The person I talked to said Dell does not support SCO Unix. However I had the feeling that if I had talked to a different Dell employee I might have gotten a slightly different answer. I assume they provide Unix device drivers for their newer computers. Right or wrong? And if Dell does provide a driver and you have problems with it you are on your own - Dell provides it but doesn't support it.

Note: The Dell PowerEdge 2600 I am checking out is described as "an operating system agnostic" in an InfoWorld review. Anyone had any experience with this Dell model?
