I have a customer with 5 sites that are still running 5.0 software and things have been working well for quite some time. They want to add another location. Their users at the existing locations use Phone Manager Pro and rely on it. I understand that version 8 and above are the only versions "supported" at this time but I am considering making the newest site 7.0 if necessary due to the (perhaps old) limitation of no more than 2 software versions apart on a SCN. (I know it's preferred that they are all the same.)

The issue is that the customer wants 9611G sets at the newest location and I've heard there are screen alignment issues on 7.0 and that has been resolved in version 8 and up. Have those been resolved in a newer patch of 7.0?

Due to the age of some of the units I can only go to 6.1 on much of the existing hardware but I'm concerned about the cost of licenses which aren't an issue when using the older software. Any suggestions?

SCN software support is N+ or - 1
So 5.0 will support 4.2 or 6.0
For the 9611 i would upgrade them all to 8.x
They still can use phone manager with 8.x, no problem.

Keep in mind that everything from 6.0 requires IP endpoint licenses for each IP endpoint.
Read the techbulletins for every release and you know it all.

You no longer have to be within one major release version for each SCN system to be supported by Avaya (it's now a recommendation). The new product description now says:

Multi-Site Networking is supported between IP Office systems with differing software levels but network features will be based on the lowest level of software within the network. This option is intended to allow the phased upgrading of sites within a Multi-Site network and it is still recommended that all systems within a network are upgraded to the same level where possible.

Thanks for the responses. I was aware of the need for endpoint licenses so was trying to avoid that if possible. I have other customers running SCN with R7 at most sites and R5 at sites that will only accept that release and it works fine. My major concern was making sure that the 9611 sets worked properly.

It's too bad that Phone Manager Pro licenses are no longer available so customers like this can't either add a extra licenses in offices that add users later or to allow new locations to operate like existing locations. If 1xP offered the ability to monitor queues then the decision to stop offering PMPro would be less aggravating.

I have made a GRIP request for queue statistics in One-X Portal.
So if you want this then do a GRIP request too.
My GRIP request number is 9755.
