Hello All,

I acquired a client who is still on R7.0 however they are having some SCN Issues so I wanted to clarify a few things (Have not touched anything SCN in quite some time)

We have one Main Location with 6 remote locations over the SCN. All of the Remote Locations point back to the Main Location.

Where my confsion is coming in is on the Line Group ID's and the Compression Mode.

We are in the USA and they have all of the Compression Modes selected as G711 ALAW 64k, should this be changed to G711 ULAW 64k?

Main Location SCN Incoming/Outgoing Group ID's out to the Remote Locations:
Remote Loc 1: 0/10
Remote Loc 2: 0/11
Remote Loc 3: 0/12
Remote Loc 4: 0/13
Remote Loc 5: 0/14
Remote Loc 6: 0/15

Remote Location SCN Incoming/Outgoing Group ID's out to the Main Location:
Remote Loc 1: 0/10
Remote Loc 2: 0/20
Remote Loc 3: 0/20
Remote Loc 4: 10/10
Remote Loc 5: 10/10
Remote Loc 6: 0/14

Not really sure why the remote locations have the Incoming/Outgoing Group ID's programmed as such.

Suggestions?

Incoming group should be 0
Outgoing can be anything you want, needs to be unique from all other outgoing groups on that particulat system.

I like to match the Line number and the Group ID together to make it logical when I look at the configurations.

So Main Site
Line 17 to Site 2, Outgoing Group 17
Line 18 to Site 3, Outgoing Group 18
Line 19 to Site 4, Outgoing Group 19
and so on

Site 2
Line 17 to Site 1, Outgoing Group 17

Site 3
Line 18 to Site 1, Outgoing Group 18

Site 4
Line 19 to Site 1, Outgoing Group 19
and so on

Also comprerssion mode
it is not 100% important provided all are the same but Idealy it should match that of your sysstem & external line type

IIRC the USA uses ulaw

One thing not mentioned & offten ovelooked & incorrectly configured is Voicemail

An SCN MUST have a Centralised Voicemail Pro Server - Distributed Voicemail servers on the other SCN sites are optional
Embedded voicemail is NOT SUPPORTED

TouchToneTommy: Like so?

Main Location SCN Incoming/Outgoing Group ID's out to the Remote Locations:
Remote Loc 1: 0/10 (Main Location Out to Remote - Line 17)
Remote Loc 2: 0/11 (Main Location Out to Remote - Line 18)
Remote Loc 3: 0/12 (Main Location Out to Remote - Line 19)
Remote Loc 4: 0/13 (Main Location Out to Remote - Line 20)
Remote Loc 5: 0/14 (Main Location Out to Remote - Line 21)
Remote Loc 6: 0/15 (Main Location Out to Remote - Line 22)

Remote Location SCN Incoming/Outgoing Group ID's out to the Main Location:
Remote Loc 1: 0/10 (Remote Location Out to Main - Line 17)
Remote Loc 2: 0/11 (Remote Location Out to Main - Line 18)
Remote Loc 3: 0/12 (Remote Location Out to Main - Line 19)
Remote Loc 4: 0/13 (Remote Location Out to Main - Line 20)
Remote Loc 5: 0/14 (Remote Location Out to Main - Line 21)
Remote Loc 6: 0/15 (Remote Location Out to Main - Line 22)

Basically the Outgoing Group ID's / Line Numbers match from the Main Location to the Remote Location and vice-versa

IPGuru: I am showing Voicemail at the main location is set to: Voicemail Lite / Pro

Remote Locations are set to: Centralized with the Voicemail Destination being the current Outgoing Group ID

That is the correct configuration (assuming you mean the destination is the SCN link to the main site). [thumbsup]

IPGuru: Correct, the SCN Outgoing Group, say 10 at the remote location is also the remote locations Voicemail Destination Group ID, 10
