SCN Fax Issues

Good Day all,

I have an scn network whihc uses an E1 PRI at the main site for 3 other remote sites. I have had no issues with voice but for some reason, the fax machines at the remote sites never receive complete faxes. The fax ends in the middle of the page.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could have caused this or what can be done to rectify it?

For Fax over SCN you need:
fax support enabled on the H.323 SCN lines
use the G.711 Codec for fax calls
a very good IP connection with enough bandwith and low latency.

And even then there is no guarantee ti will work. I usually advise to put ATA's with SIP ( one FXO and one FXS ) between the systems for faxing or suggest to switch to a fax server.

I have just received more information that internal faxes (Faxes between locations via Extension Numbers) work. The faxes over SCN do not work though. It makes no sense that it will work on extension and not on the PRI.

Is the PRI a dynamic circuit? If so make sure the carrier is not using a compressed codec for calls to those specific numbers. Faxing across IP is troublesome. Any compression on the call anywhere will cause problems. Fax machines are much more sensitive to digitization than the human ear. There is this awesome new technology though called email. It's pretty sweet. You can attach files and stuff.

It is not a pri issue, it is a SCN issue.
Faxing over SCN has nver worked well.
Do as intrigrant suggested.

Does faxing over PRI work at all? If not then contact the provider

Faxing works at the Main site. The users claim that faxing between the SCN location works (extn to extn). It i only faxing over PRI at remote location which does not work.
