I have 2 ip office systems that used to have SCN enabled. Since a few nights ago, they can inter office dial US but we cannot dial THEM!

Remote side- ip office 406v2 ver 3.2.69- ip address on 192.168.239.x/24 subnet
Main Site- ip office 412 ver 3.2.69- ip address on 192.168.1.x/24 subnet

A few nights ago, i moved the ip office on the remote side to its own VLAN because the number of collisions it was causing on our network was slowing the user traffic. It was moved successfully. I then changed the IP trunk line to point to the new IP address of the remote side from the primary site. I can ping the 406 from the main site, i can manage the 406 from the PC running manager on the main site, and they can interoffice dial US, but cannot dial them. I have deleted the ip trunk and recreated it at the main site; i have also deleted the ip route from the main site to the remote site. I added a shortcode to be able to dial them, and i was able to restore functionality of interoffice dialing. HOWEVER- i cannot see the called party's caller ID information when i call them, but they can see my caller id info when they call me! the calls in question are from donkey kong to ext 313 and bugsy seagal to ext 325. I am attaching a trace below:

Beets? Yes! Ask me how I feel about Beets! I like Beets!

When you recreated the IP trunks did you select SCN trunk for them? do you have default IP routes for you gateways? In SSA under trunks for both sites does it say SCN UP?

1. Where is there an option to select SCN under manager (ver 5.2.69)? I see an option under VOIP settings thatstates "Voice networking" Is that what you mean?

2. yes- i have a default route of my local gateway to reach the remote ip office. route goes to default gateway, then to WAN MPLS circuit, far end MPLS, far end user gateway, ip 406 VLAN. The number of hops is not an issue because they can reach us and they traverse the same route.

3. where do i find SSA? it would be useful to VIEW a graphical interface of what the SCN is doing

Thank you for your reply!

Beets? Yes! Ask me how I feel about Beets! I like Beets!

Sorry, I didn't see that you were at 3.2. I'm not familiar with that release. My bad.

it's ok- if anyone has any ideas, please share. I am looking into the possibility of the port for the SCN being blocked- port 50795. however, i dont see how as we dont block most traffic within the WAN.

Beets? Yes! Ask me how I feel about Beets! I like Beets!

If you are using voice networking you don't need the 3XX shortcodes for the users :)

Indeed, when you need shortcodes then there is something wrong.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

so if short codes are needed, then its just an h323 trunk with no SCN features. on older versions you should see a specific SCN licence in your list of licences....

ACSS - SME

HSM, an IP4XX does not need any SCN licenses.
So you will not see any :)

BAZINGA!

You are:

1) getting old
2) not getting enough sleep
3) something else

:)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

thanks, fellas! i appreciate it! i understand that if i use SCN i dont need to use shortcodes, but that's the issue.

Before moving the IPO 406 to the new subnet, i didnt use short codes on either side. after moving to the new subnet, the situation is as follows:

on the 406 side, i DO NOT use short codes.
on the 412 side, i HAD TO set up short codes in order to get inter office dialing to work. otherwise, i couldnt dial 3 digit extensions to the 406 side. it is working at this time iwth the short codes on one side and nothing on the other, so the issue is not pressing. but i want to get it reinstated as it was. Moving the IPO back to the user's subnet is NOT an option- why not? 1500 collisions a day from the IPO mandate it.

thanks again for your input!

Beets? Yes! Ask me how I feel about Beets! I like Beets!

If the change of subnet caused the isssue then it's a routing/network issue and no amount of IPO programming will fix it :)

"I'm just off to Hartlepool to buy some exploding trousers

completely understood. however, before the move of the IPO from the user subnet to its own subnet, it was in yet another subnet. we moved it from one office, to the one in which it currently resides, and hence, its ip address was changed back then. we had no such issues with inter office dialing then, so i dont understand how another change of ip address could possibly break the SCN now.

i do have a bit of information- the diffserv settings for the 406 and 412 are different. the 406 is using DSCP 41 mask 63, and the 412 is using 46 mask 63. do these have to match?

Beets? Yes! Ask me how I feel about Beets! I like Beets!

They don't need to match, those settings are for the routers/switches in the network not for the system, can't hurt to match them up to put your mind at rest :)

"I'm just off to Hartlepool to buy some exploding trousers

I have 2 sites connect SCN running 3.2.69.. The ip trunk options I have Voice Networking checked. I am also have direct media path selected.

In my ip routes I have default route to my local network/Gateway.

Both sides are set up identical except for the IP address and default routes..

I would try to deleted both IP trunks as well as the default routes and reboot both units and rebuild rebuild them again.

i have already deleted the trunk and default routes on the non-working side, but have not deleted the other side out of fear that it would stop working as well. i guess if it stops working, i can always create a short code to get that side "fixed" as well. i will do that tomorrow morning.

Thank you for your reply!

so i did what was suggested above, and the same results- they can call us without shortcodes, but i cannot call them without first adding a shortcode for 3xx extensions. one thing of note is that SCN is not totally broken. There is a range of 2xx extensions on the 406 side which I CAN REACH WITHOUT SHORTCODES and DISPLAYS caller id!!! if the SCN was completely broken, i would have had to add a shortcode for the 214 extensions as well, correct?

I look forward to y'alls responses! Tail yew whut!

Are you sure that there is no dial plan conflict?
The ipoffices learn the extension numbers from each other and when there is a duplicate extension or user/huntgroup name then you can have these kind of problems.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I will go back and double check that, but I did delete a duplicate huntgroup on the 406 side a while back, before i had this issue.

we do have a hunt group on the 412 side which starts with 30x- the extensions on the 406 side are 31x. That huntgroup has been in place since inception.
