Have anyone of you ever attended career day at your kid school? What were you saying to keep 'em listening and not to laugh at your child afterwards? I am very curious...

I am using Windows XP, Crystal Reports 9.0 with SQL Server

My sixth grader's class was learning some tempature conversions to and from celsius and fahrenheit. Took the laptop, "Borrowed" a Projector and coded a quick little conversion form in RealBasic to demonstrate a quick "taste" of programming.

Let them choose style, colors and flow with the visual Form Editor and they loved it, especially "checking" their answers to the days math homework.

Son thought window Tittle "SonName's Homework Cheat v1.0) was top notch.

When he asked if doing all his math work this way would be unfair, I replied "I'll accept it when you can code it by yourself."

Excellent results, MGWils !!! "Cheating" by using the computer is exactly how many of us got into the IT profession in the first place. Your presentation may be just the inspiration to trigger multiple IT careers amongst your son's classmates.

Well done! [2thumbsup] Have a Purple Star for generating such fine results!

I got 83% on the state placement game, and I'm in the UK. Not too bad! First state was Nevada and I put it about 70 miles too far north. Wasn't sure where Rhode Island was either. It was quite forgiving in the order it gave me the states, so I had some helpful edge shapes to work with [smile]

Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable, let's prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all

Santa ... Do you know of any global or other-country versions of the US states map?

[Cheers]

CorBlimeyLimey,
Just truncate the link to

Then click on Geography. There are several options. I first saw this test about a year ago (I think it was posted here on Tek-Tips. The Europe one kicked my butt. It was really kind of embarrassing. But some of those smaller countries....

Thanks anotherhiggins, but I already had that one. I am "googling" but was wondering if Santa already knew of any good ones to save time.

I am in Indiana, and I got 92% with average miles of 8 on the 2nd try. Utah came first. Great site! Can't wait to share it with the grandkids.

in ontario, we have "take your kid to work day" for those in the first year of high school. i was managing contracts at a major airport, and had my son follow me through the terminal on my rounds. he was given a special pass that allowed him to pass through security, and got a real eye-opener about what goes on behind the scenes. i had a good time showing him and explaining some of what i did.
