Our user wants to setup certain reports to run on schedule. This is something I actually haven't done, and it's posing a few problems.

1. Can I schedule a report to run on days that are seemingly random, for instance, the day the business period ends, which could fall on various days?

2. When the report runs, is it possible for the report to be saved with a unique name, for instance the period and date chosen in the prompts

3. How can I automate the default prompt choices for the report. Since the user won't be selecting the prompt fields, I need some way to calculate and set them myself?

Thanks for the help.

1. I think only by using a trigger that is set to a certain logic
2. The standard schema settings do not give this option, but you could schedule a shell command on the server that performs a rename (but not to the prompt contents)
3. The schema enables you to use the last used prompt to be used (which is saved with the report I guess)

At the risk of adding complexity, why not put the logic (does the report run, save file with date and time, generate correct prompts) in a macro and then call the macro in a batch/shell script from your scheduler.

Regarding the first item, we do this by having a column in our date dimension table which is populated with the first day of each fiscal period (for each date). Then in Event Studio, the criteria is [Date_Column] = [current_date] and [First day of Fiscal Period] = [current_date].

I am trying to set up a report to run on schedule. But any time when i check the details of this particular run i am getting status Failed and the fowling error:
QE-DEF-0283 The connection is ambiguous. DPR-ERR-2082 An error has occurred. Please contact your administrator. The complete error has been logged by CAF with SecureErrorID:2008-06-18-15:08:01.675-#125

What is the reason for getting the error? How i can fix it?
