HI

I am currently testing Exchange clustering on windows 2003. I have a proprietry backup software that uses the Schedule Tasks componet within windows to Schedule the backup times.

Does anyone know how to set the Scedule Tasks component as a resource within the Cluster groups?

I don't beleive that you can. You could probably setup the service that runs the task scheduler as a clustered resource. Then add the backup job to both nodes. As the job won't run if the service isn't running the job should only run on the active node.

Hi mrdenny

I thought that maybe the case. Do you know what the Task Scheduler service displays as under the cluster resources?

Cheers

The display name is Task Scheduler. The name that the cluster administrator will want is "Schedule".

Hello guys,

the only way to schedule a component as a resource is to create a VSS resource then you should modify it.Because the scheduled task option is only in VSS.If you want you can schedule then also some scripts or batchs as a resource.
