what's the best way to prepare for this? shall I just EDD and let the battery backup take-over ? what if the battery backup doesn't last long enough?

any suggestions?
thanks,
-bb1.

Assuming its an option 11, an EDD should do the job. This is stored in non-volatile memory. Should your backup batteries discharge, the system will come back as it was. Just be aware, that if power is interupted a few times with no battery cabs connected, SSCs get damaged. From my experience you find this out when you can't access the tty port.

things to consider, how long has it been since you texted your ups/batteries? system type? for a larger system i edd scpu and edd. for a smaller system, i do a edd and a xbk keeping a copy on my pc. either way unless i had a secondary reason i would power down and wait for the power to come back up.. if you want to test the backup, have some on hand that draws about the same amps and plug that in while the power is down
