No errors reported but the current job seems to be stalled, Status is Running, Byte count equates to about 20%, when I try to cancel, the job freezes, and I have to reboot the server to clear the job.
Any idesa?

Are all of the BE services running, or is there one or two that won't start?

All Services are running.

Last attempt reported error "Semaphone timout expired"

Thanks for looking into it.

Semaphore timeout messages have to do with the communication between the tape device (through the driver) and the software or OS.

You may want to check the SCSI card parameters:

1) Try turning off the "initiate sync negotiation" option for the SCSI ID of the tape drive if it is currently on.

2) Set the SCSI ID for your drive to a low number (SCSI ID 3 is a good rule of thumb).

3) Set the "sync transfer rate" for the SCSI ID of the tape to the lowest setting possible (but don't use ASYNC, or asyncronous).

Once those settings are in place, try changing the tape device driver. If you are using the ones from the hardware vendor (HP Surestore, etc..) try installing the drivers that come with BE.

Keep us posted...
