I have managed to set up my Crystal Enterprise 8.5 installation to schedule reports to destination (unmanaged disc and via SMTP). When however I try to schedule these via a different format other than Crystal reports (say Word or Acrobat) the recipient gets a .tmp file rather than a .doc file or .pdf. The .tmp file prompts you to open the file via a program. If you know what the program is this is OK (Word Exported report sent, therefoe opend fine with Word). Is this what should be happening or should the schedule to destination be sending a .doc file which actually would be more useful.

Any suggestions or advice welcome.

What are you putting in for the file name? You need to specify ".%EXT%" in addition to the filename in order for the file to show up as the association.

Yes I am using the %FileName%.%EXT% variable commands. This still creates a .tmp file instead of a .doc file or .pdf for word / Acrobat exports respectively.

Have you got this working correctly then?

Works fine for me whether I use the default name or specify my own using the format above.

What happens if you hardcode the correct file extension into the scheduled report's name? Just thought this may show whether there is a problem with the CE server or the client machine.

Strange, This works fine if a choose the specify my own report location and name and enter for example test1.doc and use Word as Format.

Must be a problem with the .%EXT% from the server to the client.
Thanks for your help!
