I'm looking for a way to backup the Act 2007 data on a scheduled basis, preferably without purchasing any further add-ons.

Since ACT is all on SQL Server, is there a way to use the normal database backup programs from SQL Server to do this?

I've tried the regular tools with the default settings, but it seems that ACT has hidden the SA password. What would happen if I blow away the SA password or find a way to enable Windows authentication?

I'm not overly familiar with administering ACT, so I thought I'd ask here before I break anything -- again.

There is an automated backup tool that is built into the Premium versions of ACT!, but not in the standard version.

Blowing away the SA pass will make the database unsable in ACT!

With the standard version, the best option is AutoAdmin III -

GLComputing, thanks for the quick and informative reply. I'm glad I asked before playing with the SA password!

There is also an option to purchase an SA Pass utility to make this available for using corporate SQL backup products, but this is only available (at a cost) with the corporate ACT! licenses.
