Hello'
Can anyone help me, in the reports on veritas netback it has the error schedular exiting- no storage unit's available for use (213).
Although I get this there's alway's tapes available in the scratch pool and our 3 other pool's. And it is backing up everything it's ment to as far as I can see. Although one machiene is being backed up through a firewall and obviously takes a good while.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what this means or why it's happening?

Many thanks.

This error has nothing to do with tape media. Netbackup is complaining about storage units (tape drives, disks, etc).

This tells me that the class in question has no storage unit configured for use (tape drive, disk) or at time of backup the class doesn't have access to the configured storage unit (tape drive, disk).

Try and run a manual job from the class with no other jobs running, and let me know what happens.

StickyBit.

I also get this error (213) sometimes, but when do a manual backup do not get this message.
Anyone know how to solve this?

It may be the job counts - Veritas has the following info for 213...
no storage units available for use
The NetBackup scheduler process (bpsched) did not find any of its storage units available for use. Either all storage units are unavailable or all storage units are configured for On demand only and the policy and schedule does not require a specific storage unit.

Try the following.
1. Examine the Backup Status and All Log Entries report for the appropriate time period to determine the policy or schedule that received the error.
2. Verify that the storage unit's drives are not down or waiting for media from a previous operation that did not complete.
3. Verify that all the storage units do not have their Maximum concurrent jobs attribute set to 0 (for disk storage units) and Maximum concurrent drives used for backup attribute set to 0 (for Media Manager storage units).
4. Verify that the robot number and host name in the storage unit configuration matches the Media Manager device configuration.
5. Determine if all storage units are set to On demand only for a policy and schedule combination that does not require a specific storage unit. If this is the case, either specify a storage unit for the policy and schedule combination or turn off On demand only for a storage unit.
6. Verify that the NetBackup Client service has been started on the Windows NetBackup media server.
7. For detailed troubleshooting information, create a bpsched debug log directory on the master server and retry the operation. Then, check the resulting debug log.

Pay particular attention to steps 2,3 and 5.

Hi

Netbackup is still complaining no storage unit available but backup jobs all successful.

What is the job counts ?

Thanks

I am installing/configuring netbackup 3.2 on a solaris box. No matter what i do i get error 213. I have LibMon installed and functioning and it can see the tape robot and the tape drive. Sgscan and tpconfig -d both show the same scsi address for the robot. Help!
